The beginning of adobe
Charles Geschke was one of the founders of Adobe

Charles Geschke was a smart and creative man. He worked at Xerox, a big technology company. But he had a dream. He wanted to make special software to help people publish images and text more efficiently. So, in 1982, he left Xerox and started his own company with John Warnock. They named it Adobe. The name “Adobe” came from a small river near John Warnock’s house. Geschke was determined. He was full of creativity and ambition. His first big idea was called PostScript. It was a program that helped printers publish exactly what appeared on the computer screen. This was really new and innovative at the time.

Apple, a very well-known company. Liked the idea and used PostScript in their printers.
This made Adobe successful. After that, Adobe developed more tools, such as Illustrator in 1987, which supported artists and designers, and Photoshop in 1990, which became the most popular tool for editing photos. Adobe’s software changed how people work with images and design.

In 2008, Charles received the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, this award recognized his big individual contributions, but also his role in transforming the software industry through innovations such as PostScript and PDF. Today, Adobe is one of the biggest and most important companies in technology and design.
